I can't find an exact date for this darling commercial,
but it's a real favorite of mine.
but it's a real favorite of mine.
The Rolling Stones got into the Rice Krispies game with this jingle that Brian Jones wrote with the J. Walter Thompson ad agency in 1964. It aired on the BBC's Juke Box Jury.
The Monkees did a number of commercials for Kellogg's Rice Krispies, featuring their own version of the "K-E-Double L, O-Double Good...Kellogg's best to you!" tagline, with Micky on lead vocal.
This is one of my favorites because it features the Monkeemobile.
Forget breakfast. Let's get the marshmellow cream and make some treats. :)
ReplyDeleteCaught some of the ' Juke Box Jury ' shows a couple of years later, whilst on that side of the Pond, circa late 1964 - early 1967, but no-one famous by this era's standards. A celebrity panel of 4 would listen to a record song & judge it a hit by pressing a button for 1 sound effect, or judge it a miss by pressing a button for another sound effect. 3 audience members had a separate vote, but they employed a double-sided shield which was emblazoned with the word ' hit ' on 1 side, & ' miss ' on the other. The music show I loved the most from the UK was ' Ready, Steady, Go ' with Cathy McGowan : just a month ago, after more than 45 years since last viewing the programme, I watched in amazement a delightful clip on YouTube titled ' ready, steady, go audience participation ' showing members of the public dancing the ' Hitchhiker ' , a dance I once danced, but, after having watched it only thrice that week, it disappeared from YouTube as the result of a rights claim.
