Unfortunately, Wishbone Thousand Island dressing isn't included on that Scarsdale Diet that all the girls at the beauty shop are so crazy about...you know the one, the one we saw on Merv?

(I love the "recipe hints" in this ad.  You don't have to sell me on using Thousand Island on sandwiches.  I love it on reubens, on turkey sandwiches, with roast beef on rye...)

(And something else: you can make the most divine salad dressing with hummus, lemon juice, Bragg Liquid Aminos, and olive oil.  Slap it all in a bowl and mix it up.  I prefer much more of the Liquid Aminos than the lemon juice; but you come up with your own proportions.  Experimenting with the amounts is part of the fun!)

It's hard to believe, but this actually graced newsstands across the United States without any sort of paper wrapping. How prudish we have become. It's quite a change...and not for the better.

And the diaphragm is back in town! I hear it went backpacking in Europe for a while, but ran out of money when it smoked up all of its funds in Amsterdam. Diaphragm had to call Masters and Johnson for plane fare home, and boy, were they ever pissed!

I'm sick...some sort of overenthusiastic bug is chewing on my innards. Ever feel like you were accidentally shoved in front of a milk truck and it ran over you five times? Yeah. That's how I feel.

And Benadryl, any incarnation of it, should be sold on the street. I took some for the watery eyes and snuffly nose aspect of this flu and I woke up 18 hours later!

So I thought I would appease The Cold And Flu Gods by creating a post about vintage soup advertising, and this is what I found. Just what you want to look at when you are sick...pea soup the color of vomit. And to think, this is the best the graphic artists of the day could do with the color! What did this soup really look like? Sheesh.

Liz Derringer, wife of rocker Rick, was one of Bebe's closest friends at the time.
