I watch the Golden Girls every night and am amazed at how much of the humour is still topical. Her search for a diagnosis is particularly poignant to me; I spent a year and went to over 20 doctors before I was diagnosed with MS.
Bea Arthur was a badass. She reminds me of a more sardonic version of my mother. What Dorothy did to that doctor, my mother did to any adult who ever gave her kids crap (most notably, horrible grammar school teachers who demeaned or belittled or mistreated her struggling kids in the wake of her divorce).
Oh I love The Golden Girls so much!
ReplyDeleteI will miss Bea.
