Wow! I had totally forgotten about Wink. I remember having some on one of our summer vacation drives through Canada en route to (or coming back from) Maine in the early 80s. I think my old bottle cap collection has long since been thrown out, otherwise I'd go right now and look for a Wink cap - I must have kept one. Do you remember Rondeau? I had never heard of it until we moved to Lafayette in 1981, and sometime shortly thereafter, it disappeared. It was like Mellow Yellow. Man, do I love rare, regional and/or international soft drinks! Club Cool at EPCOT has a free fountain of drinks from a bunch of different countries.
I'm sorry, but when she purrs, "Let's have a party," I felt like I had been magically transported to the Playboy Mansion. I wonder if they drank Wink in the grotto.
I believe it's still available in some parts of Pennsylvania, North and South Carolina, and Virginia. First time I tasted it was when my buddy visited me in Bartlett, though my dentist advised me not to take some sweets for a while for my treatment. Anyway, the ad... uh… you're right! She transported me to the Playboy Mansion, too. Haha!

ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Wink before, but I just love that Dean Jones/Dorothy Provine/That Darn Cat ad. Very groovy!
