1982: I Think Old People Are Really Boring

Oh, Rik.  I will miss you so much.

I'll never forget watching The Young Ones on MTV in early 1988, after 120 Minutes.  No other show before or since knocked me on my ass more.  It changed my comedic sensibilities forever, and for the better, and Rik Mayall was a HUGE part of that.

From 1982: People Who Don't Pay Their TV Licenses Against The Nazis

Today is that thrilling sort of sunshiney Saturday where we have to run errands: to Sears, to Home Depot, to that place in the mall that sells those yummy pretzels and lemonade...

So you get a bit of lazy blogging today. Watch as Vyvyan eats the telly, Neil gets hassled by the TV License Man, Mike remains cool throughout it all, and Rik is, as usual, a complete bastard.

From the episode "Bomb." You can find the entire eppy on YouTube, FYI.

Pattie Boyd Shampoos Her Hair

She had quintessential Sixties hair, long and blonde and swingy. Pattie always shampooed her hair daily, which was unusual for the times. She then would allow it to air dry.

I've loved you from the moment, I saw you
You looked at me that's all you had to do
I feel it now, I hope you feel it too
Because you're sweet and lovely, girl, I love you
Because you're sweet and lovely, girl, it's true
I love you more than ever, girl, I do

From 1984: "Guys! Guys! It's Beginning To Seep Out!"

From one of the most hilarious shows to ever air on television,
The Young Ones.

Here's a bit of trivia for you guys: the laugh after "Can I go to the toilet please?" was dubbed by the BBC. What actually happened: the audience laughed for two minutes during the taping, making it the biggest laugh The Young Ones ever got. The BBC had to dub in a shortened laugh for broadcast purposes.
