The Beatles Said It Best.

Thank you for eight wonderful years, readers.
Love, Laura

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

2014: The Reckoning

Brought to you by the most racist candy ever made...

Kitty-cat related advertising for now-defunct soft drinks...

The original cast of The Facts Of Life...

The Smylie Family...

My beloved Hee Haw lunchbox....

A scrumptious Swanson TV dinner...

And my favorite random 1975 photo of all time.

I'm back, bitches.

All Right, Which One Of You Knuckleheads Is Affiliated With CBS?

When you have a blog as small as mine is, you can (and do) keep tabs on where your readers come from.  This usually is in cooperation with various law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, the CIA, and Mayberry RFD.

I'm no stool pigeon, mind you...but I am no fool, either.  I know that most of my readers are among the unemployable, the hopelessly addicted, and the lunatic fringe of society.  Ahhhh...my sort of people.

Well, CBS reader...this is for you.

From 1965.

And from 1967.  This was actually known as "the scary eye."

As I Blog While Starving (And A Chicken Is Baking In My Oven And Our Whole House Smells Like Lemony Garlicky Deliciousness)

And as my stomach growls...

Boy howdy, this blog is going to be a favorite of mine.  I can just tell.

I've been toying with the notion of actually making some of the vintage recipes that cross my path, kind of like what I did with The Salad of '75 (remember?).

Then I would photograph the results and give you my review.

What do you think?

I love the condescending quotation marks.  Isn't that cute of that homemaker, to actually think that she's a chef?  Whatever will her pretty little head think up next?

FACELIFT!

Isn't the new header cool?  I just have had a smile on my face ever since good friend and fellow blogger (and all-around mensch) Doug Prinzivalli of dougsploitation sent it to me.  He did it just because he is like that; surprising a girl on a Saturday afternoon with his handiwork and giving me and my blog a much-needed shot of vitality in the process.

Muchas gracias, mi amigo.  I love it.

Papa's Got A Brand-New Favorite Blog

I plan on stealing liberally from this beautiful, witty blog.

Anyone who worships Miss Debralee Scott is A-OK in my book.

Hope You Had A Cool Yule

Me, I'm plum tuckered out from making the Yuletide gay!

We had a really splendid holiday, lots of lovely presents (I got a Kitchen Aid stand mixer!  A cashmere pashmina!  A bottle of Samsara perfume!), gallons of libations, and a Christmas dinner of all-you-can-eat crab legs at our favorite local Chinese buffet.

I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas, if that's what you celebrate.  May it have been as much fun as this:

I love this picture.  It's from this blog, and I find it so wonderful.

Wait a second...Santa Claus, NO!

You Do Maru, Don't You?

He's a Hep Cat by way of Tokyo, and I'm crazy about him.

彼はおかしな美しい猫です。
He is a funny and beautiful cat.
(I wrote that in Japanese by myself!
私は学んでいます I'm learning!)

Blog Du Jour

Check out this fabulous blog: Stirred, Straight Up, with a Twist

Warning: this blog WILL make you crave a cocktail, and since so many of you are broken-down alcoholics, be sure to call your sponsors first.

For The Boys

I have a HUGE gay following on this blog. This is just for you, just because I love you all and so appreciate your enthusiastic support. This blog would be nothing without you.

Besides, I know you lads know where to find the boys AND the booze.

Hooray For Michael K.

If you aren't already a regular reader and huge fan of Dlisted, you must start today.

There are several truly hilarious writers on The Information Superhighway, and Michael K. tops my list.

Here he is profiled by Paper Magazine. He's the one without the stylist. (Yeah, you read that right. The other guy had a stylist.)

Thank you, Michael K., for a million laughs (especially recently, when I haven't felt like laughing about much of anything), and for giving me one of the biggest laughs I have ever had, the bit about your cousins droppin' it like it's hot in the parking lot at Del Taco. I am laughing as I type those words.

Sometimes It Snows In April

I have to take some time off from everything to sort out more stuff related to my health.

No, I am not okay, but I have hope that I will be...someday soon.

I'll come back when I can, I promise.

Until then.

Today's A Good Day For New Blogging Friends!

Discover Like...Dreamsville

Skipper Bartlett's one hep cat who is running a blog that might just be a little too cool for the bunch of perennially unemployed alcoholic rabble who populate these environs. (I kid, I kid...well, actually that's an accurate description for me, except the alcoholic moniker; I drink like an Irish person, okay? Just paying homage to my ancestors.)

This is for you, Skipper...The Journeymen were the house band at the hungry i in the early 60s.

Did anyone else ever have a voice as beautiful as Scott McKenzie's?
